1957 Ford Thunderbird

Original black on red interior with white convertible top, black porthole removable hardtop, 312 cubic inch four barrel 245 HP engine with three speed overdrive manual transmission. The engine, transmission and rear end all appear to be original to the car and the motor is matching numbers except the heads (original heads included). This is a rare combination as very few manual transmission Thunderbirds were built in 1957 and the black on red color combination is considered desirable.

The car starts easily, runs and drives well and get lots of attention. It gets a lot of “thumbs ups”.

Engine has less than 20 miles since complete overhaul that included new pistons, rings, cam, lifters, bearings, bore cylinders, turn crankshaft, valve job, upgraded rear main seal and all new gaskets. The tires, shocks, brake master cylinder, gas tank and all coolant hoses are new. The odometer shows 68,000 miles which could be correct because it doesn’t look like it has 168,000 miles but there is no documentation of mileage.

The car was purchased by the previous owner in 2001 at a Kruse Auction in Houston, TX.  Papers found in the car indicate that the owner before him was also from Houston, owned other Thunderbirds and had the car for a long time. I acquired the car in 2014. It probably has not been driven forty miles in the last twenty years.
